Katrina Cohens earns honorary doctorate from School of the Great Commission Bible College Theological Seminary

MACON, GEORGIA — Katrina Cohens, who grew up in Florida and is now a vice president, community development strategist with Capital City Bank, accepted her degree of Doctor of Christian Humanities from the Great Commission Bible College Theological Seminary at a commencement ceremony on Saturday evening (Oct. 12).

Cohens, who also owns Cohens Consulting Services, LLC, noted this honorary doctorate degree in humanities can significantly support her mission by enhancing her credibility, as well as expanding her influence as a leader, coach, and community advocate. She established her consulting business is 2021.

The honorary doctorate is formal recognition of Cohens’ contributions and expertise in leadership, community service and human development. It bolsters her profile as a thought leader in areas like emotional intelligence, resilience and social impact, which adds academic recognition to her practical experience.

This degree helps Cohen in her efforts to empower others and promotes a deeper understanding of human connections, values and wellbeing.

This honorary doctorate adds to Cohens’ other academic degrees, which include a Master of Business Administration Degree, Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration, and an Associate of Arts Degree.

Cohens has more than 20 years of experience in financial management, with an emphasis on leadership, performance standards and employee relations. She is a resourceful problem solver and planner with the ability to analyze, collaborate, and communicate to achieve specific goals.

Cohens coaches and supports women in leadership by helping develop their leadership skills, build confidence, and increase work-life balance.

While she is originally from Florida, since moving to Macon, Georgia in 2018, she has been recognized and spotlighted as one of Middle Georgia’s young professionals and featured in the Macon-Middle Georgia Black Pages Resource Guide, and the Macon Magazine in the Leadership Edition.

She also accepted the Julian V. Smith Community Service Award from Capital City Bank in 2019.

Among her other long list of accomplishments, Cohens is a proud graduate of Leadership Macon-Class of 2023.

She serves on the Board for Career Women’s Network of Macon, and Meals on Wheels of Middle Georgia Board of Directors.

Recently, she was nominated to serve on The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in September 2024 (her term begins in January of 2025).

From a local perspective, Cohens was the recipient of the 2024 African American Female Entrepreneur Award from The Levy County Martin Luther King Jr. Committee, Chiefland Chapter, and the Exceptional Leadership Award from Premier Moms.
