Retired Judge Bill Adams saw many people fall through the cracks of the legal system during his 18 years as Judge of the State Court of Bibb County. He and other concerned lawyers wanted to complement existing legal services by providing another place where people who do not know how to navigate legal services could turn to at little to no cost at all. They formed a non-profit in 2018 to carry out the mission of reducing the justice gap in middle Georgia.

“Eventually, almost everybody is going to have a legal need: help when a family member dies, guidance through a divorce, assistance legitimating a child. Getting citizens, the legal relief they need but cannot afford is why we need everybody’s support – the entire community benefits from the services we provide,” says Judge Adams. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. Due to generous donations, we have been able to help 3,500 people in our community in the last 5 years with cases ranging from obtaining a driver’s license to clearing up titles to homes, helping reduce blight in our community, and clearing up criminal histories.”

In 2023, the fundraising event raised more than $67,000. The goal for this year is to reach $85,000, in order to provide more legal services to more people in our community.
