Tim Walz – A Fighter for Georgia Families in The White House post thumbnail

MACON, GA, August 6, 2024 – As Kamala Harris’ historic choice for Vice President, Governor Tim Walz may not yet be a household name in Georgia – but he will be the champion Georgia families need in the White House.

Tim Walz knows us. As the son of a public school teacher and a community activist, he understands the struggles, hopes and dreams of working families. He’s lived the values of hard work, service and perseverance that built Macon and communities across Georgia.

Tim Walz is for us. His dad’s family were farmers and his mom grew up during the Great Depression, so he learned early on that when your neighbor is struggling, you lend a hand. That’s why he’s fought his whole career to lift up the middle class, expand opportunity, and build an economy that works for everyone.

Most importantly, Tim Walz will work for us. As Governor of Minnesota, he’s shown he can bring people together to get real results that improve people’s lives. He’s made healthcare more affordable, invested in public schools, cut costs for families, and kept communities safe. That’s the kind of can-do, common-sense leadership we need more of in Washington.

“At a time when too many politicians put scoring political points over solving problems, Tim Walz is focused on making a difference in the lives of everyday Americans,” said Jaylan Scott, Chair of the Macon-Bibb Democratic Party. “He understands the issues that keep families up at night, like paying for groceries and childcare, because those are the issues he’s tackled head-on as
Governor.”

A former teacher who coached high school football, Walz connects with people because he’s real and relatable. He knows the challenges facing the middle class because he’s lived them. And he knows how to win tough races in blue-collar communities by staying laser-focused on bread-and-butter concerns.

“When Kamala Harris picked Tim Walz, she picked a true fighter for the middle class to be a heartbeat away from the presidency,” said Scott. “Georgia working families should sleep easier knowing the Harris-Walz ticket has their back.”

The Macon-Bibb Democratic Party is all in for the Harris-Walz ticket and their commitment to building an economy that works for working people, not just the wealthy and big corporations.
